Violence and Hoax

28 May

It so happened that today I heard the words violence, which means “the use of physical force to injure somebody or damage something”, and hoax, meaning “an act intended to trick people into believing something is real when it is not”, being mispronounced. Let us learn how these words are supposed to be pronounced.

Let me start with violence. It would sound “vaiyelens” in Indonesian, not “vielens”.

What about hoax? Its correct sounding in Indonesian would be “howks”, not “hoaks”.

Hopefully, that was useful. See you in my next post!
